Government has not filled deputy minister posts at Imipas, Ketenagakerjaan
Istana says both ministries are functioning under the ministers for now, while the need for replacements is reviewed.
The government has no immediate plans to fill the vacant posts of deputy minister for Imigrasi dan Pemasyarakatan and deputy minister of Ketenagakerjaan after the officeholders were drawn into legal proceedings. State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the duties at the two ministries are continuing normally for now because they are being handled directly by the ministers.
The vacancy in the deputy minister post at Imipas came after Silmy Karim was detained by KPK in a corruption case involving the handling of foreign nationals' residence permits. According to Antara, KPK suspects Silmy received a regular share of about Rp100 million per week since serving as Director General of Immigration in 2023-2024 and continued receiving the money after becoming deputy minister. The government said a replacement appointment will be considered only after an organizational review is completed.
