PELNI ship fares to get 30% discount for 2026/2027 holidays
The discount runs from Dec. 17, 2026-Jan. 10, 2027, covering 414,630 passengers with a Rp38.26 billion budget.
The government will give a 30 percent discount on the base fare for PELNI economy-class ship tickets during the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year holiday travel period. The reduction does not cover insurance fees or port charges. The discount applies to departures from Dec. 17, 2026, to Jan. 10, 2027.
PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia is preparing 26 passenger ships serving all public service obligation (PSO) routes. PELNI President Director Budi Setyawan Wijaya said the program is intended to make sea travel more affordable while maintaining interregional connectivity during the year-end holiday season.
The Transportation Ministry estimates public mobility during the 2026/2027 Nataru holiday period will reach 120 million people, up from about 110 million in the previous period. In total, the government is setting aside Rp883 billion for stimulus covering four modes of transport: rail, shipping, ferry and air.
