Pelindo Panjang plants 250 trees to absorb emissions at port
The Greenbelting program will also be used to track tree growth and measure carbon absorption more accurately.
PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo Regional 2 Panjang, planted 250 tree seedlings in the Pelabuhan Panjang area, Bandarlampung, as part of the Greenbelting Program to support port decarbonization. The planting took place at a number of strategic points considered suitable for development into an integrated green area. Pelindo Regional 2 Panjang General Manager Hardianto said the program is designed not only to add green open space but also to make it easier to monitor plant growth and measure carbon absorption. Pelindo said the data is important to calculate the contribution of vegetation to emissions reductions, while also improving air quality, reducing heat impacts and making the work environment more comfortable. Similar programs are also being carried out at other Regional 2 branches, including Banten, Bengkulu, Cirebon, Pontianak, Sunda Kelapa and Tanjung Priok.
