1 Muharram 1448 H processions held from Jakarta to Aceh
In Cipayung, East Jakarta, 125 decorated cars joined the procession, while hundreds marched in Aceh Besar, Bogor, Bekasi and Balikpapan.
Celebrations for the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 Hijriah were held in several regions on June 15-16, from East Jakarta to Aceh Besar. At Pondok Pesantren Al Hamid in Cilangkap, Cipayung, East Jakarta, 125 decorated vehicles joined the annual parade with Islamic ornaments, calligraphy, miniature mosques and religious messages. East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin attended the event. In Aceh Besar, the local government staged a taaruf procession and torch parade attended by hundreds of residents. Similar processions also took place in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, and Cikiwul, Bantargebang, Bekasi. In Balikpapan, hundreds of participants from children to adults joined a cultural parade around Batakan Stadium to welcome 1 Muharram.
