Pasadena officer shot in shoulder during gun horseplay in garage

A Pasadena, California, police officer was shot in the left shoulder after two officers engaged in what the department called unsafe horseplay with loaded guns in a police parking garage. Newly released video shows one officer outside a vehicle drawing a firearm and pointing it at a colleague who was driving toward him. After the first officer re-holstered the weapon, the driver pulled his own gun while seated in the patrol unit. The firearm discharged, punching through the windshield and striking the officer outside. Police Chief Gene Harris called it a suspected accidental officer-involved shooting. He said the wounded officer has recovered, while a criminal investigation and force review remain pending.
