Paredes gets 10-game ban after Argentina-Spain World Cup final brawl

What's new: Argentina's federation was fined $321,000, and its next home match will be capped at 50% attendance.

FIFA handed Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes a 10-match international ban and a $90,000 fine for his role in clashes after Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup final in New Jersey. Teammate Nahuel Molina was suspended for seven matches, Thiago Almada for one, and assistant coach Roberto Ayala for three. Spain's Gavi also received a one-match ban and a $30,000 fine. FIFA separately fined the Argentinian Football Association $321,000 over the post-final disorder, discriminatory chants and gestures by supporters, and a Falkland Islands banner displayed after the semifinal against England. Argentina must play its next home match at 50% capacity, with one additional crowd restriction suspended.
