Pakistani man deported after Woodlands Checkpoint lockdown

What's new: ICA said the checkpoint was shut for 10 minutes after the man ran toward Malaysia and ignored orders to stop.

A Pakistani man was deported and barred from re-entering Singapore after triggering a temporary lockdown at Woodlands Checkpoint on June 4. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority said an auxiliary police officer spotted him at 9:42 a.m. walking against traffic near the arrival motorcycle zone. He said he had dropped his cashcard, but when the officer tried to locate his motorcycle, he ran back toward Malaysia despite instructions to stop. ICA officers then locked down the checkpoint under security protocols. The lockdown was lifted at 9:52 a.m. The man was later arrested, investigated by ICA’s Enforcement Division, given a stern warning and deported on June 6.
