Ossoff seeks reelection in Georgia Senate race against Collins
What's new: Georgia is the only state where a Democratic senator is defending a seat after Trump carried it in 2024.
Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff is running for a second term in one of the most closely watched Senate contests of the 2026 midterms. Ossoff, first elected in a 2021 runoff, is the only Democratic senator up for reelection in a state that President Donald Trump won in 2024.
Republican Rep. Mike Collins secured the GOP nomination after defeating Derek Dooley in a June runoff. Collins had Trump’s endorsement, while Dooley was backed by Gov. Brian Kemp. Immigration and border security have been central themes of Collins’ campaign, setting up a high-stakes general election in a state that has swung sharply in recent cycles.
