Oliver Tree’s body returns to California after Brazil crash

The body of singer-songwriter Oliver Tree has been returned to California, his family said, a week after he was killed in a helicopter crash in Brazil. In a post on his official Instagram account, the family said Tree had arranged before his death for a foundation to be created in his name, called Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses. They said the project was written into his will and would help spread “more joy, love and art.” Tree, born Oliver Tree Nickell in Santa Cruz, rose to prominence after going viral in 2016 and became known for songs including “Life Goes On,” “Miss You” and “Alien Boy.” He had recently started a world tour and last performed in São Paulo on June 6.
