Nvidia, SK set Monday chip plan as Huang warns shortage may last years

Why it matters: Tight supplies of memory, wafers and packaging could keep pressure on AI hardware production for several years.

Nvidia and South Korea's SK Group plan to brief reporters on Monday about a cooperation plan, after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang warned that shortages across the chip supply chain could continue for years. Huang, speaking in Seoul, said demand was outpacing supplies of key inputs including memory, wafers, packaging and silicon photonics. An SK Hynix spokesperson said SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and Huang would present the plan Monday morning. Huang said Nvidia was working with partners across AI supercomputers, CPUs, PCs and robotics, but he did not give details of the planned cooperation. The meeting in Seoul included Chey, SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung and other SK executives.
