Nvidia disputes report tying Jensen Huang contact to China spy fears

What's new: Nvidia said prior allegations that Megaspeed helped divert AI chips around US export controls were investigated and disproved last year.

Nvidia pushed back Thursday on a New York Times report that US intelligence agencies monitored a person close to Chief Executive Jensen Huang over concerns she could be linked to Chinese intelligence. CNBC reported that the person, Alice Huang, is associated with Singapore-based cloud company Megaspeed, a regional Nvidia customer. Nvidia said Huang regularly meets customers and that they do not receive access to trade secrets or national security information. The company also rejected claims that Megaspeed had helped companies evade US restrictions on shipping Nvidia AI chips to China, saying those diversion allegations were examined and debunked last year. The episode highlights the scrutiny on Nvidia as Washington weighs the security risks of advanced AI chip sales to China.
