Norway beat Senegal 3-2 to reach first knockout round since 1998
What's next: Norway face France with first place in Group I at stake, while Senegal need a big result against Iraq to stay alive.
Norway secured a 3-2 win over Senegal on Monday and advanced to the World Cup knockout stage for the first time since 1998. Stale Solbakken's side led 1-0 at halftime after Pedersen scored in the 43rd minute, then rebuilt control when Erling Haaland made it 3-1 in the 58th after Ismaila Sarr had briefly pulled Senegal back. Sarr struck again in stoppage time, but Senegal could not find an equalizer. The result leaves Norway through from Group I with one match left and sets up a showdown with France for the top spot on goal difference. Senegal remain without a point and are close to elimination heading into their game against Iraq.
