North Dakota primary tests House seat, ballot measure and Fargo mayor race
What's next: Polls close at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. ET as voters weigh a single-subject rule for future constitutional amendments.
North Dakota voters headed to the polls Tuesday for a primary centered on the state’s lone U.S. House seat, a statewide ballot measure and Fargo’s open mayoral race. Republican Rep. Julie Fedorchak is seeking a second term and faces former foreign service officer Alex Balazs in a partial rematch of the 2024 GOP nomination contest. Democrat Trygve Hammer is running again and will face the Republican winner in November. Voters are also deciding whether future proposed constitutional amendments should be limited to a single subject. In Fargo, five candidates are competing to replace term-limited Mayor Tim Mahoney in the first mayoral election since the city made the job full time and after North Dakota barred Fargo’s approval-voting system.
