Norris takes Brazil GP pole after wet qualifying at Interlagos
Engine penalties drop George Russell five places and Charles Leclerc 10, while Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton will start from the back.
Lando Norris took pole position for the 2026 Brazil GP after setting the fastest time in a rain-soaked Formula 1 qualifying session at Interlagos Circuit in Sao Paulo on Saturday local time. The McLaren driver clocked 1 minute 27.470 seconds to beat Mercedes pair George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. The session was delayed for a long time by heavy rain before resuming on a track that remained slippery. The qualifying result will not fully determine the starting grid because Russell will drop five places and Charles Leclerc will receive a 10-place penalty for an engine change. Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are also set to start from the back. It was Norris's third straight pole at Interlagos.
