Noel Ebenezer sentenced to 4.5 years in K3 extortion case

The judge also imposed a Rp200 million fine and Rp3.4 billion in restitution, less than the prosecutors sought.

Former 2024-2025 Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel "Noel" Ebenezer Gerungan was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in the alleged extortion case involving the processing of Occupational Safety and Health, or K3, certificates at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday (4/6). The panel of judges found Noel guilty of corruption. In addition to prison, the court imposed a Rp200 million fine, or 90 days' imprisonment in lieu, and Rp3.4 billion in restitution. The Rp3 billion he had previously returned was credited as payment. If the remaining restitution is not paid within a month after the verdict becomes final and his assets are insufficient, Noel must serve an additional 1 year. The sentence was lighter than the KPK prosecutors' demand of 5 years in prison, a Rp250 million fine and Rp4.4 billion in restitution.
