Nevada voters pick nominees in governor, House primaries
Why it matters: The governor’s race could shape a key 2028 battleground, while Democrats see the 3rd District as central to retaking the House.
Nevada voters headed to the polls Tuesday to choose party nominees in a closely watched governor’s race and several U.S. House contests. Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo, viewed as vulnerable in November, faced six primary challengers, while Democrats competed to challenge him, including Attorney General Aaron Ford and Washoe County Commissioner Alexis Hill. In the open 2nd Congressional District, Republicans battled to replace retiring Rep. Mark Amodei, with President Donald Trump backing David Flippo and Amodei and Lombardo supporting former state Sen. James Settelmeyer. Democrats also targeted the 3rd District, where holding the seat is seen as crucial to their chances of winning back the House.
