A head teacher in Nepal evacuated about 900 children and staff from a school minutes before floodwaters and mud buried the campus, according to the BBC. Principal Kishor Dawadi said he moved students after receiving multiple warnings, including from a parent who rushed in to collect a daughter. The flood later engulfed buildings near the river and destroyed the school in Trishuli Bazar. Student Yunisha Amatya said she and her friends escaped uphill through a rear route just before the water hit. Many survivors were stranded for two nights because roads were cut and transport was disrupted before rescue teams reached them. The floods on Wednesday devastated parts of Nepal and left at least 2,426 people missing.
