Pezeshkian: Iran faces full-scale war with U.S., talks stall

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country is facing a “full-scale war” with the United States in the economic, military and security spheres, as efforts to ease the conflict have again stalled. In a speech broadcast by IRNA on Sunday, Pezeshkian referred to U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose the toughest sanctions on Iran and said the government continues to serve citizens amid pressure he described as an uneven war. He also acknowledged persistent economic problems at home and said Tehran is trying to prevent internal divisions. Earlier, Iran and the U.S. signed a memorandum of understanding in June through mediation by Pakistan and Qatar to end hostilities since February. However, follow-up talks toward a final deal stopped over disputes about implementing the memorandum and navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz.
