Musk poured more than $200 million into GOP midterm groups
What's new: FEC filings show $158 million went to the Senate Leadership Fund, which quickly routed money to a group backing Ken Paxton in Texas.
Elon Musk gave more than $200 million in the quarter ending Sept. 30 to Republican-aligned groups ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections, according to Federal Election Commission filings reviewed by the BBC. The biggest share, $158 million, went to the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC backing Republican Senate candidates in competitive races. The group then moved money to an organization supporting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his race against Democrat James Talarico. Musk also gave more than $80 million to America PAC, which he founded in 2024, and another $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC. The filings underscore Musk's focus on Texas, where he has shifted major businesses including Tesla, SpaceX and X.
