Musk acknowledges SpaceX limited Starlink, hindering Ukraine drones
Zelenskyy says connection speeds have recovered, but a weeklong disruption slowed Ukrainian logistics and air defense.
Elon Musk acknowledged that SpaceX limited the Ukrainian military’s use of the Starlink satellite internet service after connectivity was disrupted and hindered drone operations on the battlefield. In a post on X on Saturday, 24 Oktober 2026, Musk said the commercial service was not allowed for offensive drone attacks and that the loophole in its use had been closed the previous week. The Associated Press reported the disruption lasted about a week. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later said connection speeds had returned to pre-restriction levels on Saturday morning local time. According to the report, the restrictions hit drone operations, combat communications and troop logistics in Ukraine, which relies on SpaceX’s satellite network amid Russia’s attacks.
