MUI Condemns Judaization of Al-Aqsa, Prepares Al-Quds Fatwa
MUI also urges the UN, UNESCO and OIC to build diplomatic steps and monitor violations at the holy compound.
The Majelis Ulama Indonesia strongly condemned what it described as efforts to Judaize Masjid Al-Aqsa and Kota Al-Quds, while preparing a fatwa to protect Al-Quds. MUI foreign affairs and international cooperation chairman Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim said restrictions on Muslim worship access, the weakening of Jordan's Islamic Waqf authority, and changes to the historical status of Al-Aqsa constitute serious violations of international law and human rights. MUI central chairman Ahmad Fahrur Rozi also said erasing the site's historical and Islamic identity risks worsening the Palestine conflict. MUI urged the UN, UNESCO, the UN Human Rights Council, and the OIC to take concrete steps to protect the mosque's historical status and support Jordan's role in its administration.
