Muhaimin urges MBG priority for poor residents in 3T regions
The appeal comes as BGN pauses new kitchens and reworks program targets, with supporters urging a narrower focus on the poorest families.
Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar has asked that recipients of Makan Bergizi Gratis be prioritized for poor and extremely poor people, especially in 3T regions. He called for improvements to Badan Gizi Nasional's program management to refer to the National Socioeconomic Single Data in line with Inpres 4 Tahun 2025, and to align with Inpres 8 Tahun 2025 on accelerating the elimination of extreme poverty. At the same time, BGN is imposing a moratorium on adding new MBG kitchens. PP Muhammadiyah chairman Anwar Abbas supported the move and proposed that aid be concentrated on children from destitute, poor, and neglected families. He said that if the target is narrowed, the 2026 budget requirement, cited at Rp 268 triliun, could be cut to around 10 percent.
