Molotov attack in Koja misses, nearly hits mother and child

Police suspect jealousy drove the attack, with the target being a family linked to a man close to the suspect's ex-wife.

Police said the throwing of a bottle suspected to be a Molotov cocktail in Koja, North Jakarta, missed its intended target. The attack on Monday (22/6) at about 09.00 WIB on Jalan Mandiri II, Rawa Badak Selatan, had initially been believed to target K, an uncle of U, a man close to the suspect's former wife. But the bottle landed on the road as a mother passed on a motorcycle with her child on the way to the market. The motorcycle's dashboard briefly caught fire, but the mother and child were not injured. Koja Police Chief Kompol Andry Suharto said the main suspect, identified as M, allegedly came with about three other people. Police have reviewed CCTV, secured fragments of the Molotov bottle, and are now searching for four people believed to be involved.
