Minus 3 degrees in Dieng coats Candi Arjuna in frost

BMKG said the frost is common from June to September, when the Australian monsoon brings dry air to Dieng.

Frost coated the Dieng Plateau in Banjarnegara, Central Java, on Sunday (12/7), after temperatures fell to minus 3 degrees Celsius. A white layer covered the Arjuna Temple Complex and Pandawa Field, drawing tourists who came to see the seasonal phenomenon. BMKG explained that frost in Dieng usually occurs during the dry season, around June to September. It is caused by the Australian monsoon, which brings dry air masses and can push surface temperatures below zero degrees Celsius. At that point, water vapor freezes and forms frost on grass and other open areas. The phenomenon recurs almost every dry season and is one of Dieng's signature natural attractions.
