Military judge convicts 4 BAIS soldiers in Andrie Yunus acid attack
The panel ruled the attack was a personal act born of resentment, not an intelligence operation, after a dispute over a TNI bill meeting.
The Jakarta Military Court II-08 on Wednesday (10/6) sentenced four Denma BAIS TNI soldiers in the acid attack case involving KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. In its ruling, the panel of judges found the defendants guilty of premeditated assault on Andrie. They had previously faced a demand for 2 years 6 months in prison. In its consideration, the court said the attack could not be classified as a military intelligence operation. The panel concluded the act grew out of revenge and resentment after Andrie interrupted a closed-door meeting on the RUU TNI at the Fairmont Hotel in March 2025. The judges also cited Andrie's refusal to testify at trial, either in person or online, and said it diminished the court's authority. The four defendants in the case are Edi Sudarko, Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Nandala Dwi Prasetyo, and Sami Lakka.
