Mexico beat Czechia 3-0 to stay perfect and reach last 32
What's new: Seventeen-year-old Gilberto Mora started and impressed, while veteran goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa made a sixth World Cup appearance.
Mexico cruised past Czechia 3-0 on Wednesday to preserve a perfect record at the 2026 World Cup and send the Czechs out of the tournament. Co-host Mexico never looked in real trouble and controlled long stretches of the match, with 17-year-old midfielder Gilberto Mora drawing attention in his first World Cup start. Left back Mateo Chavez opened the scoring after breaking forward from the right channel, and Mexico added two more as Czechia faded. Coach Miroslav Koubek left out Patrik Schick and Tomas Soucek from the starting lineup; Soucek later came on but departed hurt after landing awkwardly. Late in the match, Guillermo Ochoa entered to make his sixth World Cup appearance.
