Meta leases 168-MW AI data center from Reliance in India

Meta Platforms will lease a 168-megawatt AI-enabled data center in Jamnagar from Reliance Industries, marking the company’s first such facility in India. Reliance will build the site and deliver it within two years, with room to expand over time. The deal deepens a relationship that began with Meta’s $5.7 billion investment in Jio Platforms in 2020 and comes as India pushes to become a major AI infrastructure hub. The companies also linked the project to large clean-energy purchases, with Meta securing nearly 1 gigawatt of renewable power through CleanMax and Fourth Partner Energy. Reliance shares rose as much as 2.5%, while Clean Max shares jumped more than 15% after the news.
