Merdeka Run 2026 to Close 12 Roads in Central Jakarta

Polda Metro Jaya will temporarily close 12 roads in Central Jakarta during Merdeka Run 2026 on Saturday (29/8) morning. The traffic scheme will run from 04.00 to 08.00 WIB to support participant safety and keep traffic moving around the race route. The start and finish areas are centered at Monumen Nasional, with the 8-kilometer race beginning in front of Istana Merdeka. The closed roads include Jalan Majapahit, Veteran III, Medan Merdeka Selatan, Kebon Sirih, KH Wahid Hasyim, Imam Bonjol, Jenderal Sudirman, and Medan Merdeka Utara. Police have prepared three alternate routes: Rasuna Said-HOS Cokroaminoto-Tugu Tani, KH Mas Mansyur-Cideng Barat-Simpang Harmoni, and Tomang Raya-Simpang Harmoni. Kemenpora previously said more than 10.000 runners will take part in the event.
