Imipas minister inaugurates 5 houses, 2 mosques at Warungkiara Prison
The Sukabumi project used Jawara Beton cinder blocks made by inmates at Lapas Tangerang and was completed in two weeks.
Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto inaugurated a home-repair and place-of-worship program for residents living around Lapas Kelas IIA Warungkiara, Sukabumi, on Wednesday, with the final result of five houses and two mosques. The program used Jawara Beton cinder blocks produced by inmates at Lapas Kelas I Tangerang, while construction also involved prisoners from Lapas Warungkiara who had completed job training. The Imipas Ministry said the activity was part of a corrections initiative to support the government’s programs on food security and the national 3 million homes home-repair drive. One beneficiary, Karta Atmaja, 120 years old, and his family now live in a house equipped with a living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom after the project was completed in about two weeks.
