Menpar urges Indonesia to become gastronomy hub at FHI 2026

The July 21-24 event at JIEXPO draws more than 500 companies from 32 countries and aims to spur hotel and culinary investment.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana urged Indonesia to become one of the world's gastronomic hubs by leveraging its culinary diversity and cultural heritage. Opening Food and Hospitality Indonesia (FHI) 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday, Widiyanti said those strengths could be marketed as an authentic cultural and gastronomic travel experience for visitors. The Ministry of Tourism and Indonesia Gastronomy Network earlier launched the Wonderful Indonesia Gourmet program to support that development. She said the effort must be matched by better hotel, restaurant, cafe, tourism service and hospitality worker quality. FHI 2026 runs on 21-24 July at Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, with more than 500 companies from 32 countries. The event is also intended to strengthen the tourism ecosystem, drive innovation and service standards, and open opportunities for UMKM and investment.
