Menag urges 2,649 schools to adopt 30-day eco-repentance
The KLH, Kemenag and Kemendikdasmen initiative reaches 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities.
Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar called on the public to restore humanity’s friendly relationship with nature through an eco-repentance movement launched in Jakarta on Monday. The appeal came during the declaration of “Eco-Repentance Toward Environmentally Conscious Schools,” held by the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency together with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. The program involves 2,649 schools in 38 provinces and 514 regencies/cities, aimed at driving behavior change and environmental restoration actions over 30 days. Nasaruddin said nature must not be treated solely as an object of exploitation. He also warned that environmental damage will hasten disasters if people continue to drift away from the ethics of protecting the earth.
