Melania Trump secures $2 million for foster youth scholarships
What's new: IndyCar and Fox each pledged $1 million for awards at Indiana University and Purdue University.
First lady Melania Trump accepted a $2 million contribution from IndyCar and Fox Corp. on Thursday to expand college scholarships for young people coming out of foster care. The money, split evenly between the two organizations, will fund scholarships at Indiana University and Purdue University through her Fostering the Future program. Trump received the gift at a White House Rose Garden event tied to the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, a race being staged as part of events marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. The two Indiana schools join a nationwide network of more than two dozen colleges and universities participating in the initiative.
