Melania Trump hosts Russian, Ukrainian envoys after Kherson ceasefire
What's new: The White House meeting follows a ceasefire that let several hundred people evacuate Russian-occupied Oleshky.
Melania Trump was set to host Russian and Ukrainian delegations at the White House on Thursday, a day after Ukraine awarded her the Order of Princess Olha, 1st Class, for humanitarian support. The White House said she helped secure a ceasefire in southern Kherson that enabled the evacuation of several hundred people from the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky. The delegations include Ukraine's ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, Russian ombudsman Yana Lantratova, Ukrainian lawmaker Davyd Arakhamia and Russian official Kirill Dmitriev. No agenda for the White House event was released, but Lubinets said "important meetings" were ahead and Melania Trump was scheduled to speak later Thursday.
