Megawati highlights school bullying and food resilience in Blitar
She cited bullying tied to economic status differences and recalled a 2021 call for regions to plant 10 rice companion crops.
Megawati Soekarnoputri highlighted the rise of bullying in schools and weak food self-sufficiency as she inaugurated the renovation of Istana Gebang and a Bung Karno statue in Blitar, East Java, on Monday, June 15, 2026. The PDIP chair questioned how deeply Pancasila values are being lived amid bullying cases that, she said, often target children because of differences in economic status. She also said discriminatory attitudes are starting to appear among some parents. Beyond education, Megawati reminded attendees of an instruction she issued in 2021 for regions to plant 10 food crops to accompany rice. She stressed that food is the most basic need for people and warned that difficulty obtaining food could trigger social unrest.
