Max Miller stays on Ohio ballot after GOP replacement window closes

Rep. Max Miller will remain the Republican nominee in Ohio’s 7th Congressional District after the window to replace him on the November ballot effectively closed. Under Ohio rules, Republicans had until Monday at 4 p.m. to certify a replacement, but local party officials needed two days’ notice to meet, meaning Miller would have had to withdraw by Saturday. He did not. Miller has faced growing pressure from Ohio Republicans to end his campaign after his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, accused him of physically abusing her and their young daughter. Miller has denied the allegations. The House Ethics Committee also opened an investigation last week into possible domestic violence, abuse and illegal drug use. Miller is set to face Democrat Brian Poindexter as Republicans defend their narrow House majority.
