Mark Kelly pushes probe into USS Lincoln sailor welfare complaints

What's new: Kelly said lawmakers want a bipartisan visit to the carrier after a sailor's grandmother reported major weight loss.

Sen. Mark Kelly is pressing for an investigation into living conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln after hearing complaints that sailors cannot meet basic needs during the carrier's extended deployment. Kelly, an Arizona Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee and a former Navy combat pilot, said a sailor's grandmother told him her grandson appeared to have lost 20 to 25 pounds while at sea. Kelly said he and other lawmakers want Congress to examine conditions on the carrier and are seeking a bipartisan delegation to visit the ship directly. He also criticized President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over what he described as dismissive responses to the concerns.
