Manchester City beat London City 2-1 to open 6-point WSL gap

What's new: London City had 24 shots but only six on target, wasting a chance to pull level with City and Chelsea.

Manchester City held off London City Lionesses 2-1 on Sunday to leave the hosts six points behind the defending champions in the Women's Super League title race. Khadija Shaw put City ahead before Jana Fernandez equalized, but Lauren Hemp restored the lead as City escaped Hayes Lane with three points after a match in which London City created most of the chances. BBC reported London City finished with 24 shots and six on target, but a lack of finishing punished a side chasing a statement result in only its second WSL season. The loss hurt London City's hopes of moving level on points with City and league leader Chelsea.
