Man suspected of stealing chicken in Tabanan beaten to death, motorbike burned
Police also seized a chicken, machete, pliers, slingshot, stones and cash from the scene as they investigate the case.
A man identified by the initials KD died after being beaten by residents in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Desa Batunya, Kecamatan Baturiti, Kabupaten Tabanan, Bali, after he was suspected of stealing a fighting chicken on Friday (24/7) at about 01:30 WITA. When police from Polsek Baturiti arrived at about 02:00 WITA, the victim was already dead and the motorbike he had used had been burned by the crowd. Polres Tabanan is investigating both the alleged theft and the beating that killed KD. At the scene, police secured the victim's chicken, a machete, and a bag containing pliers, a slingshot, stones and cash. The body was taken to RS Semara Ratih, while the Inafis team from Satreskrim Polres Tabanan examined the crime scene and collected fingerprints. Sidetapa village head I Made Sutama said KD left behind three children and that any suspected theft should have been handed to authorities, not met with violence.
