Man dies after falling from 200-foot roller coaster at Six Flags Georgia

What's new: Police identified the victim as 42-year-old Atlanta resident Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem as state safety inspectors opened a review.

A 42-year-old Atlanta man died after he was thrown from a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia, and several other park guests were injured, authorities said. Cobb County police said the incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. Monday at the park in Georgia. Investigators identified the victim as Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem. Preliminary interviews with witnesses and employees indicate he was ejected from the ride, struck other patrons and fell beneath the attraction. Officials have not publicly named the ride, but aerial footage showed the Goliath coaster stopped midcourse, and witnesses identified it as the ride involved. Georgia's insurance and fire safety office is reviewing the case.
