Man City reject Barcelona’s £38.5m opening bid for Rodri

What’s new: Barcelona reportedly raised the offer to £51.4m, still short of City’s £60m asking price.

Manchester City turned down Barcelona’s opening £38.5 million bid for Rodri as talks continued over a possible move for the Spain midfielder. The Guardian reported City want at least £60 million for the 30-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract and has agreed personal terms with the Spanish champions. BBC Sport, citing reports in Spain, said Barcelona later increased the offer to £51.4 million. Barcelona are seeking midfield cover after Frenkie de Jong suffered a knee injury that is expected to keep him out for months. Rodri joined City from Atlético Madrid in 2019 and is coming off a World Cup in which he won the Golden Ball.
