Ethics panel removes Hery Susanto from Ombudsman with PTDH
The final ruling goes to the President and DPR to formalize his removal and fill the chair and member posts.
The Ombudsman RI Ethics Panel imposed dishonorable discharge on inactive Ombudsman Chair Hery Susanto from his post as chair and member of Ombudsman RI for the 2026-2031 term. The ruling was read out in Jakarta on Monday after the panel concluded that Hery had committed serious violations of the Ombudsman code of ethics and code of conduct. In the verdict, the Ombudsman leadership was ordered to send a copy of the ruling to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for the formal removal process, as well as to the DPR and Commission II of the DPR RI to fill new chair and member posts. The decision was declared final and binding. During the ethics review, Hery was found to have intervened in handling complaints outside his area of authority, carried out repeated monitoring 5-20 times on certain complaints, and been involved in a conflict of interest while acting in the name of the Ombudsman. Earlier, the Attorney General's Office named Hery a suspect in alleged corruption tied to nickel mining governance in Southeast Sulawesi and alleged receipt of Rp1.5 billion in bribes from PT TSHI.
