Maine Democrats split on Platner as scandals hit Senate race
What's next: Tuesday's Democratic primary will test whether the allegations weaken the party's bid to unseat Susan Collins.
Maine Democrats are fracturing over Senate candidate Graham Platner days before Tuesday's primary, after reports alleging he sent sexually explicit texts to multiple women and that some former girlfriends found his behavior intimidating and disturbing. Platner acknowledged being "a far from perfect boyfriend" but denied ever being physically threatening or violent. Some voters told ABC News they still see him as the party's best chance to beat longtime Republican Sen. Susan Collins in November. But state Reps. Allison Hepler and Holly Eaton said they will back Gov. Janet Mills in the primary even though she suspended her campaign in April, underscoring party unease at a critical point in the race.
