M5.1 quake shakes Enggano, Bengkulu, no tsunami risk

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook Enggano District, North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu, on Tuesday at 00.08 WIB. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency recorded the epicenter offshore, about 63 kilometers southeast of Enggano, at coordinates 5.89 LS and 102.43 BT with a depth of 30 kilometers. BMKG said the quake did not have tsunami potential. The agency also said its initial data prioritizes speed, so the earthquake parameters could change as additional data comes in. As of publication, BMKG had not detailed the quake's impact on residents and urged people to remain calm and avoid unverified information.
