LPS raises rupiah deposit guarantee rate to 3.75% from July 1
The higher cap also lifts BPR deposit rates to 6.25%, while foreign-currency deposits at commercial banks remain covered up to 2%.
Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan raised the guarantee interest rate for rupiah deposits at commercial banks by 25 basis points to 3.75% and at Bank Perekonomian Rakyat to 6.25%. The policy takes effect from 1 July to 30 September 2026. For foreign-currency deposits at commercial banks, LPS kept the guarantee rate at 2%. LPS Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Anggito Abimanyu said the decision was taken at a Board of Commissioners meeting on 22 June as a precautionary step to help maintain a fair benchmark interest rate in banking and the effectiveness of the deposit insurance program. That means customer deposits remain insured as long as the interest rate does not exceed the LPS limit and other applicable requirements are met.
