Lombok Barat Sekolah Rakyat open house shows a year of learning
The school recruits students from decile-one families through DTSEN rather than regular public enrollment, officials said.
The open house at Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama 18 Lombok Barat in Nusa Tenggara Barat showcased student learning after one year of operation on Friday, July 10, 2026. In front of Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, students performed chants, traditional dances, marching drills, pencak silat, choir numbers, poetry, speeches in Arabic, English and Japanese, and a short Putri Mandalika drama in English. Saifullah Yusuf said the performances showed stronger confidence and skills among the students. He also explained that Sekolah Rakyat does not accept general registration, but instead reaches poor families through the Data Tunggal Sosial Ekonomi Nasional, especially decile-one households. Several parents of prospective students who attended said they were increasingly confident about sending their children because the program is free.
