LIV Golf nears liquidation after BC Partners drops $300 million rescue
What's next: A U.S. bankruptcy hearing Thursday is expected to shift from restructuring to selling off the league's assets.
LIV Golf is nearing liquidation after BC Partners Credit abandoned plans to finance a revamped version of the breakaway tour, according to reports cited by CNBC and the AP. The private equity firm had pledged up to $300 million for a relaunch dubbed LIV 2.0, but pulled back after the league failed to secure enough player commitments. LIV filed for Chapter 11 protection in September and is due in U.S. bankruptcy court on Thursday, where the case is now expected to center on liquidation. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund had already ended support after the 2026 season, after investing more than $5 billion since LIV launched in 2022. High-profile exits including Jon Rahm and Sergio Garcia further weakened the restructuring effort.
