Lindsey Graham wins South Carolina GOP Senate primary

What's next: Graham, backed by Donald Trump, enters November as the favorite against Democrat Annie Andrews in the solidly Republican state.

Sen. Lindsey Graham won the Republican Senate primary in South Carolina on Tuesday, beating five challengers and avoiding a runoff in a race that had drawn late concern inside his camp. Graham, a four-term incumbent, defeated businessman Mark Lynch, who poured millions of his own money into the contest and tried to cast the senator as insufficiently aligned with the MAGA base. Trump endorsed Graham, a crucial advantage in a state where Republican primary voters remain closely tied to the president. The New York Times reported that Graham and allied groups spent more than $18 million on political ads since January 2025 as the race tightened. He now moves on to face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in November.
