Likud politician labels Turki an enemy state amid Israel tensions

The remarks came after Erdogan said Israel's attacks on Suriah and Lebanon had reached a point that threatened Turki.

Ariel Kellner, a Knesset member from the Likud Party, called Turki an "enemy state" and described President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as a dangerous figure amid rising Ankara-Tel Aviv tensions. In an interview with Galei Israel radio, Kellner accused Erdogan of seeking to restore the Islamic caliphate and urged Israel and Western countries to view Turki as a threat. The remarks came after Erdogan said Israel's attacks on Suriah and Lebanon had reached a point that posed a threat to Turki. Erdogan also said Israel's actions endangered global security and must be stopped. Tensions between the two countries have risen since the Gaza war erupted in October 2023. According to CNN Indonesia, Turki later cut trade ties with the Benjamin Netanyahu government.
