Fatmawati excavation blast injures 2 workers, project halted
Police suspect a PLN cable was cut during PDAM pipe repairs, triggering the blast around 09.00 WIB.
An explosion at an excavation project on Jalan RS Fatmawati Raya, Cilandak, South Jakarta, on Monday morning injured two workers identified as H and R. Both suffered burns to the face and were taken to RS Fatmawati. Police have temporarily stopped the excavation work for an investigation. According to police, the incident at around 09.00 WIB occurred while workers were digging to repair a PDAM water pipe. During the inspection, the excavation was suspected to have hit an underground PLN cable and triggered the explosion. Polsek Cilandak is now examining the scene, questioning witnesses, and investigating the exact cause of the incident, video of which had circulated on social media.
