KPK Detains Former MPR Secretary General Ma'ruf Cahyono in Gratuity Case

Investigators estimate the gratuities at about Rp17 billion and suspect a 10 percent fee was sought from procurement projects.

KPK detained former MPR Secretary General Ma'ruf Cahyono on Thursday after questioning him for about six hours at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta. Ma'ruf is a suspect in an alleged gratuity case tied to goods and services procurement within the Secretariat General of MPR RI. The case has been under investigation since 20 June 2025, and KPK disclosed the suspect’s identity on 3 July 2025. The antigraft agency had previously said the suspected gratuities received were worth about Rp17 billion. After questioning several witnesses, including private-sector parties on 7 July 2026, investigators also suspected Ma'ruf of seeking compensation of about 10 percent of the value of procurement project packages. Before being detained, Ma'ruf had been questioned as a suspect on 25 June 2026.
